Schulich Leader Scholarships

Yeva Côté-Paradis was awarded a $100 000 Schulich Leader scholarship. She holds a college degree from Cégep de Limoilou and, is currently enrolled in a B. Sc. in engineering.

Félix Desroches was awarded an $80 000 Schulich Leader scholarship. He holds a college degree from Cégep Garneau and, is currently enrolled in a B. Sc. in Physics.

Joanie Théroux, 20 years old, was awarded a $100 000 Schulich Leader scholarship. She holds a college degree from Cégep de Drummondville and, is currently enrolled in a B Sc. in Physical Engineering. Dreaming of starting her own company, specializing in new technologies, Joanie’s main objective is to reduce the environment footprint and she hopes to be a part of the solution in tackling both national and international issues in environment and improve tomorrow’s future.

Médéric Chalifour, 19 years old, was awarded an $80 000 Schulich Leader scholarship. He holds a college degree from Cégep régional de Lanaudière in Joliette and, is currently enrolled in a B. Sc. in Physics. He is dreaming about a career in engineering and wants to launch his own company in “zero emission” aerospace. Médéric has always been ambitious and eager to contribute to the advancement of society through innovations in sustainable development.

Laurie Dauplaise, age 18, received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. She graduated from Cégep de Sorel-Tracy and is studying toward a bachelor’s in physics. She is planning to build a successful career in this male-dominated field and to inspire other women to do the same. Within 10 years, she would like to start training the next generation of physics researchers and organizing inclusive, hands-on activities to improve living conditions for all.

Simon Gauthier, age 18, received a $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of École de la Rose Sauvage in Calgary, Alberta, he is studying toward a bachelor’s degree in physical engineering. He is planning on a career in new energy sources and dreams of transforming nuclear fusion into a clean, affordable form of energy. He believes that nuclear fusion will change our planet’s future and wants to be a part of that change.

Samuel Lefrançois, age 18, received a $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Nepisiguit high school in Bathurst, New Brunswick, he is studying civil engineering. With his keen interest in science, excellent leadership skills, and outstanding academic achievements, Samuel has enormous potential in science. He is involved in numerous activities, including fundraising and competitive cycling, and helped develop a mathematical formula in cooperation with two universities. His impressive record has been rewarded by this coveted scholarship.

Maxime Langevin, age 18, received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. After graduating from École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet in Ontario, he enrolled in a bachelor’s in chemistry. Maxime is known for his involvement in a wide range of academic, community, sports, and environmental activities. He has put his strong entrepreneurial spirit and natural leadership skills to work through his involvement in fundraising efforts, the creation of a Franco-Ontarian artistic work, and the construction of two drinking water wells in Africa, to name just a few of his achievements.

Monica Gagnier, age 18, received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. Monica graduated from École secondaire catholique de Casselman in Ontario and is now studying for a bachelor’s in forest management and environment. Monica was chosen for her natural leadership and outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and community service, all key selection criteria for these scholarships.

Marie-Laure Filion, age 19, received a $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. She graduated from Cégep Limoilou in Québec City and is studying civil engineering. She was chosen because of her many accomplishments, including her impressive entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, and community engagement) all key selection criteria for Schulich Leader Scholarships.

Gabrielle Martineau, age 19, received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. Gabrielle graduated from West Island College International – Class Afloat in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and is now doing a bachelor’s degree in biology. She was chosen because of her exceptional accomplishments, including an outstanding academic record, natural leadership skills, and dedication to giving back to her community, key selection criteria for these scholarships.

Nicolas Fillion, age 20, received a $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. A graduate of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montréal, he is now working toward a bachelor’s in software engineering. Nicolas was chosen because of his exceptional achievements (impressive community engagement, academic excellence, and positive leadership), essential selection criteria for these scholarships.

Michelle Janusz, age 18, received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. She graduated from Earl Marriott Secondary School in Surrey, British Columbia, and is studying toward a bachelor’s in electrical engineering. She was chosen because of her exceptional accomplishments: academic excellence, natural leadership qualities, and community service, key selection criteria for these scholarships.

Camille Comtois, age 20, received a $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship. Camille is a graduate of Cégep régional de Lanaudière in L’Assomption and is completing a bachelor’s program in nursing sciences. She was chosen because of her remarkable achievements: outstanding engagement, positive leadership, and immense generosity, key selection criteria for these scholarships.

Rosemarie Dupont studied at Cégep de Drummondville, where she completed a double DEC in natural sciences, specializing in health sciences and dance. She helps primary students with their homework and tutors CEGEP students. She has also been a member of Harmonie d’Asbestos for many years, teaches flute to children age 5 to 7, and launched a musical awareness program for children age 3 to 4. Rosemary also volunteers as a swim coach for the new swim team at her former high school.

Nicolas Tremblay studied at Cégep de Chicoutimi and has put his passion for computers to good use. For example, he developed a software solution for managing the student residences at his CEGEP and created a number of tools for his classmates and teachers. His greatest achievement to date is undoubtedly the tool he developed for seniors who have a hard time understanding computers.

Ioana Fugaru studied in the Faculty of Medicine. She received a $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Vincent Rocheleau earned a degree in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He received an $80,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Audrey-Ann Lavoie studied at Cégep Champlain-St. Lawrence in Québec City, where she got involved in cultural and community events, organizing the Shaved Head challenge for Leucan. She received a $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Manuel Lavoie-April studied at Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup, where he served as vice president of the Student Council and was very involved with seniors in his community at Centre de santé et de services sociaux des Basques. He received a $60,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship.

Sacha Lajoie from Montréal and Terry Blakovits from Edmonton were chosen to represent the University as the first recipients of a Schulich Leader Scholarship. These two former Université Laval students each received $60,000 over four years of undergraduate study.
